"the composer gets a
new, special and original instrument, and the performer gets new possibilities for
performing and playing"
"Of course, the creative process is just the beginning"
The Recorder is an ideal instrument in performing contemporary music, due to its
simplicity and clarity. The sensitivity and gentleness of the Recorder infuse it with a
wide range of effects and sounds, which in many cases cannot be produced by any
other instrument. For me, working with different composers is fascinating and
provides both counterparts the opportunity to enjoy its fruits: the composer gets a
new, special and original instrument, and the performer gets new possibilities for
performing and playing.
A typical work with a composer begins in a meeting, during which I show and tell
about the great potential of the Recorder, its effects and the variety of the Recorders
to which one can compose. In addition to personal meetings, the composer receives
a kit containing a Recorder-effects tutorial written by me, recordings of the
different sounds and effects, and scores and recordings of important pieces. Of
course, the creative process is just the beginning, and after the piece is composed, I
promote it through my concerts and recordings worldwide.
